Little Surprises

Breakfast in bed, with coffee and toast.
A full bodied blend, a nice dark roast.
Not for me, healthy yoghurt and fruit.
First thing in a morning, it just doesn’t suit.
A book in my hand and a paper on the tray,
Will set me up for the rest of the day.
The front page holds the celebrity staple,
In an orange tuxedo, passed out on a table.
A ghost of a smile as I finish my chapter,
Amused at the antics of Ronald, the pastor.
My computer awaits and I crunch my last morsel
Then I notice the tiny, beige and green parcel
On removing the wrapping I find a sweet letter
“Every bounce in the road. you make it better”
Inside are two kangaroos, embracing each other.
